What is a Traffic Challan?

A traffic challan is a penalty notice issued by traffic police for violating traffic rules. Under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, penalties for traffic violations have been significantly increased.

  • Challan Number: Unique identifier for the violation
  • Violation Type: Nature of the traffic violation
  • Violation Date: Date and time of the offence
  • Location: Place where violation occurred
  • Fine Amount: Penalty amount to be paid
  • Payment Status: Paid or pending
  • Due Date: Last date for payment

How to Pay Traffic Challan?

  • Visit the official traffic police portal of your state
  • Enter your vehicle registration number or challan number
  • View pending challans and select one to pay
  • Pay online using UPI, credit/debit card, or net banking
  • Download the receipt for your records
